Episode 21 - Getting From Here to There

Welcome back to Vision to Victory. I’m Luke, and today we’re diving into a topic that comes up in almost every conversation I have: how to get from where you are now… to where you actually want to be.

Whether it’s your career, your health, a relationship, or your sense of purpose—it can be tough to figure out what steps to take. So today, I want to break it down into something simple and practical.

Step One: Be Brutally Honest

Progress starts with honesty.

If you’re feeling stuck, it’s time to get real about why. Maybe it’s fear, self-doubt, procrastination, or just some habits you’ve let slide. The truth is, we can’t move forward if we’re not willing to face what’s holding us back.

For me, going back to school was one of those moments. I told myself I was too busy, or that it wasn’t the right time. But underneath it all? I was scared. Scared I didn’t have what it takes.

Once I was honest about that, everything changed. I stopped letting insecurity run the show—and I finally made the move I’d been putting off for years.

Step Two: Address the Issue Directly

Once you’ve identified the real issue—address it.

No more sugarcoating, no more distractions. Whatever is standing in the way, look it in the eye and deal with it.

Fear doesn’t get to call the shots. Distractions, bad habits, excuses—none of them deserve to be in the driver’s seat. Whether it's procrastination, screen time, or self-sabotage masked as “just thinking it through,” call it what it is.

We don’t get to where we want to be by avoiding discomfort. We get there by confronting it.

Step Three: Make a Plan (Even a Bad One)

You don’t need a perfect plan. You just need a plan.

Here’s the thing: building a meaningful, fulfilling life doesn’t happen by accident. If you’re not intentional, you’ll drift—and drifting rarely leads anywhere good.

Start with where you are. Get clear on where you want to go. Then break the gap into small, doable steps.

When I first launched this podcast, I had no clue what I was doing. I had to break things down into the tiniest tasks just to move forward: one day I’d brainstorm a topic, the next day I’d jot down bullet points.

Even small steps build momentum—especially when done consistently.

Step Four: Do It Anyway

This is where most people get stuck.

There will be days when you don’t feel like doing the work. Do it anyway.

Success doesn’t come from bursts of motivation—it comes from showing up consistently. The people who win? They do consistently what others do occasionally.

Time is going to pass either way. A year from now, do you want to be in the same place? Or do you want to look back and see progress?

There’s a voice in your head that’ll try to talk you out of it. You’ve got to talk back. Remind yourself of your goals, your values, and the life you’re working toward.

That voice that says, “Take it easy?” Choose the hard thing instead. That’s where growth lives.

Final Thoughts

If you want to get from here to there, it starts with:

  • Brutal honesty

  • Direct action

  • A plan (even if it’s imperfect)

  • And the discipline to keep going—even when you don’t feel like it

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to take the next step.

You’ve got what it takes. Now let’s get to it.
